About The Position

The Dryer Machine Operator is responsible for operating and adjusting pellet mills, regulating dryer temperatures, and monitoring bin levels. This role involves managing the material mix to achieve optimal pellet moisture and density, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and maintaining pellet mill feed rates. The operator will also complete daily reports detailing various operational metrics.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • One to two years production experience in an industrial setting highly preferred.
  • Requires working knowledge of all aspects of the production process.
  • Process Controls Experience a plus.
  • Must be able to pass the company forklift certification.
  • Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs waist high.
  • Must be able to stand for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Must be able to use catwalks and climb ladders that connect catwalks up to 60 feet high and according to safety standards.
  • Must have mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must have the ability to do simple math calculations.
  • Pre-employment background check and drug screen required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and adjust pellet mills.
  • Regulate dryer inlet and outlet temperatures per specifications.
  • Oversee and monitor bin levels.
  • Regulate material mix to obtain the optimal pellet moisture and pellet density ratio.
  • Communicate the ratio of fresh and old sawdust and wet and dry shavings to keep pellet moisture under specified limits.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, spot fires, and hot bearings.
  • Maintain pellet mill feed rates and adjust or change pellet mill rolls/dies accordingly.
  • Complete a daily report detailing temperature readings, dried material moisture, perform density checks per specifications, average for the day, total mill hours, natural gas hours, and estimate tonnage.
  • Perform additional accountabilities as required.
