The Machine Operator is responsible for safety, quality, and attainment of production for their assigned group of machines during the shift. This role requires proactive support-seeking from the Process Technician or Shift Supervisor to ensure a successful shift. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining injection molding machines, molds, and stacking equipment, responding to machine alarms, performing basic troubleshooting, adhering to safety procedures like lockout/tagout, and ensuring machines run according to setup sheets. The role also involves cleaning production molds, stacking equipment, and the general work area, as well as performing basic maintenance on stackers and chutes. Documentation is a key part of the role, including recording machine parameters, mold run data, checklists, and data entry in the Mattec unit. Process responsibilities include performing color and resin changes efficiently, conducting line clearance for product changes, performing frontline quality checks, achieving shift attainment, and communicating quality issues. Adherence to plant safety and SQF standards, including the use of appropriate PPE, is mandatory. The operator will also participate in continuous improvement projects and initiatives like drool/purge reduction, and escalate process changes as needed.
