About The Position

The Dry Box Welder will set up and operate a dry box welding unit to produce bars from heavy scrap, electrodes for melting, and other inert gas welding operations, as required in the dry box. This role will also assist in the melting of powder and scrap electrodes in arc furnaces and all other related equipment. The position requires training on 1st shift for approximately 3 months before transitioning to the 3rd shift schedule (Sunday-Friday 10:30pm-7:00am).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Vocational degree
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, especially in welding, preferred
  • Must possess excellent mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Vacuum training is preferred.
  • Export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology (ITAR and EAR).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare scrap bars from heavy tantalum scrap ingot, plate, rod crops, etc.
  • Produce electrodes for melting in the CMAF and ALD furnaces from powder bars, scrap bars and forged bars.
  • Weld powder compacts to electrodes for micro-alloying of ingots.
  • Perform routine daily maintenance to keep the dry box and associated equipment operable.
  • Maintain accurate paper and electronic processing records.
  • Track movement of materials in SAP.
  • Segregate and handle scrap in accordance with prescribed techniques and procedures to avoid cross contamination of materials.
