About The Position

The Drumline Coordinator designs, teaches, and oversees both the battery (snare, tenors, bass drums, cymbals) and front ensemble (pit) sections. The position ensures high-quality musical performances at football games, pep rallies, and university events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in music
  • 1-3 years of ensemble teaching experience
  • Strong mastery of marching percussion techniques

Responsibilities

  • Teach advanced marching percussion rudiments, stick work, body choreography, and timing.
  • Write, adapt, or acquire cadences, stadium grooves, and field show music tailored to the line's skill level.
  • Lead specialized percussion sectionals and coordinate integration with the full marching band during main rehearsals.
  • Coordinate the placement of audition process for incoming and returning members.
  • Manage inventory, tune equipment, and oversee the maintenance or repair of university-owned percussion instruments.
  • Direct the drumline during traditional pre-game lot warmups, stadium stands playing, and halftime field shows.
