The Drug Substance Engineering Intern will work within Product Development, Science, and Technology (PDS&T) to help establish a systematic approach for understanding how powder physical properties affect feeding performance in micronization processes. The work addresses gaps in understanding feed-rate control for poorly flowing materials. Micronization processes such as pin milling and jet milling are critical to API manufacturing and help ensure downstream critical quality attributes. The internship includes experimental characterization of powder properties, evaluation of micronization techniques and feed mechanisms, analysis of process-performance data, development and verification of computational models, and presentation of findings to departmental and cross-functional audiences. The position is part of AbbVie’s 2027 Intern Program.
