About The Position
The Drug-GM MDSE/Clerk creates an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and helps maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. The position assists the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals and monitors established quality assurance standards. The clerk supports the Customer 1st strategy and encourages excellent customer service while demonstrating the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
Requirements
- Retail experience.
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Effective communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic math.
Responsibilities
- Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
- Maintain product knowledge and answer questions or make product suggestions.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover items or products they ask about.
- Inform customers about Drug GM specials.
- Recommend Drug GM items to help customers find the products they want and need.
- Review sell-by dates and take appropriate action.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Stay current on current, future, seasonal, and special advertisements.
- Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify store management.
- Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager of repair needs.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Report safety risks, issues, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
- Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Act honestly and with integrity when handling customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
- Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
