About The Position

The successful candidate will be responsible for the supervision and coordination of drop-in programs for youth & adults. The Drop-In Leader is responsible for meeting the needs of the participants and ensuring program guidelines and expectations are followed.

Requirements

  • At least 16 years of age by the start date (September 26, 2026).
  • Must hold a valid and current Intermediate First Aid or Standard First Aid certification with CPR C & AED from a recognized WSIB-provider, or must hold a valid and current Basic First Aid or Emergency First Aid with CPR C & AED from a recognized WSIB-provider, at the employee’s expense.
  • Must hold a valid HIGH FIVE ® Principles of Healthy Child Development certification and is at the employee’s expense.
  • Experience working with youth and adults.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Recreation/sport skills.
  • Employment offer is conditional upon receipt of a Level 3 - Vulnerable Sector Check from a Police unit that is acceptable to the City of Mississauga.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise participants and planned activities in designated facility areas, manage behaviour and report any relevant participant/ staffing issues to supervisor.
  • Assist with program equipment set ups and tear downs. Inspect program equipment and facility to minimize potential risk to participants. Ensure the program location is always left clean, orderly and safe at all times.
  • Perform all necessary administration and program functions pertaining to the operation of each drop-in program ensuring that appropriate policies are being adhered to.
  • Provide quality customer service and act as a knowledgeable resource to participants, volunteers and customers.
  • Ensure supervision of participants at all times and provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants by adhering to department safety standards and assisting with emergency procedures as required.
  • Support physical literacy development as required.
  • Incorporate and model the HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development in program delivery where appropriate.
  • Complete all mandatory online job required learnings.
  • Attend and participate in training and staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
