About The Position

This role involves the daily operation and driving of power units (Class 8 tractors and lower) for chemical distribution. The job requires transporting HAZMAT and non-hazardous materials, both liquid and dry. Responsibilities include deliveries to customers/vendors, in-plant movements (spotting), and inter-company branch transfers. Drivers will participate in loading and unloading processes using pumps, air, etc., managing the entire process from transport to proper transfer, delivery, securement, and paperwork execution. The candidate must operate vehicles safely and efficiently, complying with all DOT, OSHA, and site-specific regulations, including safety, packaging, labeling, loading/unloading, placarding, pre-inspection, daily logs, and repair reporting. Adherence to Brenntag operating procedures, work instructions, and safety policies is essential. Certification to operate pallet jacks is required, and forklift certification may be necessary depending on the location. The role also involves operating dock locks, dock levelers, and other equipment for material handling. Proper care and maintenance of assigned equipment, including ELDs, virtual gateways, camera systems, and tracking units, is expected, along with maintaining good housekeeping and ensuring equipment is in good working order before use. Communication with supervisors and dispatchers for delivery instructions is crucial.

Requirements

• High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or US military experience.
• Meet all components of driver qualifications (DQ) for employment.
• Possess a Class "A" CDL with Tanker, Bulk, and/or Hazmat Endorsement (as required for role).
• Possess a current DOT medical card.
• If position has PFT requirements to wear a respirator, cannot have any facial hair that may interfere with a respirator.
• Possess a current TWIC card or show proof of application in process (if location requires).
• Ability to drive a manual transmission.
• Ability to read, comprehend and conduct detailed and simple instructions in English and write simple correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
• Ability to learn and operate technology-based devices such as smart phones, tablets, transportation platforms (e.g., Samsara) to conduct normal safety, compliance, and business operations.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Must pass E-verify check.
• Must pass a pre-employment DOT fit-for-duty exam.
• Must be able to sit and drive for long hours.
• Must be able to step into and out of equipment safely.
• Must be able to stage, move, set up, operate, and break down equipment while performing loading/delivery tasks.
• Lifting ability up to 75 pounds.
• Frequently pushes, pulls, or moves up to 150 pounds.
• Must be able to wear a respirator (if required for role) and all other personal protective equipment.
• Must be able to load and unload hazardous material.
• Must be able to climb ladder.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in working with chemical delivery may be considered if education or service requirements are not fully met.
• A minimum of 1 year liquid bulk hauling experience or a minimum of 3 years commercial truck driving experience.
• Certification from Accredited Commercial Driving Academy.

Responsibilities

• Perform bulk deliveries of liquids and solid materials, including loading and offloading using pumps, air, etc.
• Manage the entire delivery process: transport, proper transfer, delivery of product, securement, and execution of paperwork.
• Operate a tractor, trailer, or applicable service vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.
• Comply with all applicable DOT, OSHA, and site-specific rules and regulations.
• Follow all Brenntag operating procedures and work instructions.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures while on a customer/vendor site.
• Operate pallet jacks (electric or manual); operate forklifts and applicable accessories if required by location.
• Operate dock locks, dock levelers, and additional applicable equipment for delivery/pickup of material.
• Properly care for all assigned equipment, including ELDs, virtual gateways, camera systems, and tracking units.
• Maintain good housekeeping on equipment and ensure it is in good working order prior to use.
• Remain in communication with supervisor and/or dispatcher to receive delivery instructions.
• Complete all training as required.
• Observe, follow, and enforce all company policies and procedures.
• Represent the company in a professional manner.
• Operate power units that utilize advanced camera and safety systems (e.g., Samsara) for compliance purposes.
• Perform general warehouse duties and use of applicable equipment.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
