About The Position

If so, we 're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL. We are seeking a customer focused shuttle bus driver to help us support a work force of almost 9000 staff. This role is primarily responsible for transporting staff across our campuses, with occasional responsibilities supporting equipment and material transport throughout the continental U.S. At APL, we pride ourselves on providing exceptional support—and with your help, we’ll continue to be a valued partner across the organization.

Requirements

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess a valid Class A or B CDL with a passenger endorsement and a current DOT medical card.
  • Are subject to and comply with DOT random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Can fuel, clean, and maintain APL-owned vehicles.
  • Work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Can drive continuously for up to 3 hours and are flexible to work 8-hour shifts with occasional overtime.
  • Are able to obtain Secret security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • Have a HAZMAT endorsement on your CDL.
  • Possess basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Have experience using Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs).

Responsibilities

  • Operate APL shuttle buses to safely transport staff between Main, South, and Montpelier campuses.
  • Drive special tours for staff, sponsors, and VIPs as needed.
  • Perform pre-trip inspections, fuel vehicles, and record maintenance issues per DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness, safety, and operational standards.
  • Provide excellent customer service and represent APL in a professional manner.
  • Operate larger APL vehicles (up to 80,000 lbs. GVW) for transporting mail, equipment, and freight across the U.S.
  • Perform both intrastate and interstate deliveries using straight trucks or tractor-trailers.
  • Load and secure cargo to ensure safe and compliant transport.
  • Maintain detailed driving logs and follow all transportation regulations.
  • Obtain and maintain a forklift license.
  • Wear required safety equipment (e.g., safety shoes).
  • Support the team with additional responsibilities as needed.
