Position Purpose On call as needed to transport Academy students, faculty and occasionally staff to off campus events and meetings. Supports several departments including, Athletics, Lamont Health Center, ESSO, and Student Transportation. Expected to provide transportation as well as companionship and general assistance while supporting the mission of the Academy. Key Accountabilities Operates Academy passenger vehicles to transport students, faculty and occasionally staff to/from events, both local and long-distance. Adhere to all federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations governing the operation of passenger vans and busses. Conform to all transportation policies to create a safe environment for all passengers and the reliable, safe operation of all vehicles. Exhibits sound judgment and follows safe driving standards. Ensures that all passengers adhere to all passenger safety guidelines and expectations while the vehicle is in operation. Transport students (faculty/staff) to/from off-campus appointments, athletic events and local airports (Boston and Manchester). On call for other departments (alumni/assembly/deans, etc.) as a driver for departments members or their guests to/from meetings, assembly speaker, to/from local hotels. Assists with loading and unloading of bulky items, like athletic equipment and luggage. Performs routine pre- and post-driving maintenance checks on vehicles. Reports any concerns, problems, or faulty devises on the vehicle to Facilities Maintenance. Ensures academy vehicle cleanliness and maintenance. Removes trash and debris from vehicle after each shift. Maintain a clean and reliable passenger vehicle and provide evidence of adequate liability and collision automobile insurance. Knowledge of adolescent issues and experience interacting with adolescents. Chaperone adolescent students to/in airports and bus stations until they board departing transportation. Maintains confidentiality. Ability and willingness to drive long distances (over 2 hours each way). Ability and willingness to drive in and around Boston and Logan airport. Ability to operate a smart phone, either personal or company issued. Pick up and deliver documents to/from off-campus business associates. Must complete the requirements to drive the school branded vehicle, “Dragon Bus” Reply to assignment request must be done within 24 hours Must be comfortable with chaperone duties, including but not limited to escorting students to different terminals at the airport Health Center Only Drives students to/from off-campus medical facilities. Keep track of related medical paperwork. Inform Health Services staff of students’ status. Return student to Health Center along with instructions for follow-up care. Maintain documentation of medical visits (location, time, etc.). Pick up/drop off medications as requested. Direct/Indirect Reports None
