About The Position

Drivers are responsible for maintaining vehicles in good condition, inspecting them regularly, and transporting residents and staff to and from scheduled doctor appointments and outings. This role requires adherence to a driving schedule, meticulous record-keeping, and effective communication with various stakeholders. The driver must also assist residents in and out of vehicles, escort them when necessary, and maintain the cleanliness of the parking lot and front entrance. Flexibility and dependability are key, as is the ability to perform assigned job tasks physically and adhere to company guidelines.

Requirements

  • Must have a clean DMV record.
  • Possess a Class C, B, or A commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a passenger endorsement.
  • Maintain a good driving record.
  • Be able to communicate effectively with residents, families, and front desk staff.
  • Be in constant contact with the facility at all times.
  • Be flexible, punctual, and dependable.
  • Have the ability to comply with a sometimes-heavy transportation schedule.
  • Must be enrolled in DOT random substance and alcohol testing.
  • Sensitivity and caring for the elderly.

Nice To Haves

  • Six (6) months experience in providing planned activities (for communities licensed for 16-49 persons) or one (1) year of experience in conducting group activities (for communities licensed for 50+ persons).
  • Knowledgeable in evaluating residents’ needs, supervising other employees, and training volunteers (for communities licensed for 50+ persons).
  • One (1) year of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain vehicles in good condition and inspect them on a regular basis.
  • Transport residents and staff to and from scheduled doctor appointments and outings.
  • Stay in compliance with driving schedule.
  • Keep track of appointment and scheduled activity times.
  • Keep vehicles clean and maintained once a week.
  • Report any trouble or misunderstandings with staff, residents, or residents' family members to the supervisor.
  • Report to the Department head when the supervisor is not in the facility.
  • Keep mileage records when using the bus.
  • Maintain effective communication with the receptionist and supervisor.
  • Assist all residents in and out of the car.
  • Escort residents to doctor's offices or any other facility when required.
  • Clean the parking lot and front entrance with a blower every day.
  • Report to the supervisor for other duties when there is no transportation.
  • Physically able to perform assigned job tasks.
  • Adhere to guidelines in the Employee Handbook including dress code, conduct, scheduling, etc.
