Visit us online at: https://www.nwths.com/careers Position: Driver Position Summary: Under the general supervision of the Department Director, Driver is responsible for driving patients to and from Northwest Healthcare System. The Driver for Acute Care provides transportation services to the hospital from the Free-Standing Emergency Departments as well as transporting patients who are an obstacle to throughput secondary to not having a ride home. The Driver for Behavioral Health (BH) provides transportation to the hospital community during the assigned shift. The Driver shall respond safely, effectively, and efficiently to all related matters that come to his/her attention and in the performance of these activities, or others as assigned. Job Duties/Responsibilities: For Acute Care Drivers, provides transportation for NWTHS patients to and from Northwest Healthcare System by providing transportation services to the hospital from the Free-Standing Emergency Departments as well as transporting patients who are an obstacle to throughput secondary to not having a ride home. For Behavioral Health Drivers, provides transportation for BH patients by driving designated transportation routes. Responsible for shuttle maintenance including cleaning, fuel supply, etc. Completes all necessary shuttle usage summaries as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • For insurance purposes, minimum age is 21 years.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 30 days of start date and maintain certification throughout employment.
  • Current valid Texas Driver’s License
  • A Driver’s Record validation is required annually for all authorized drivers of owned or leased vehicles and for all candidates who are required to utilize their personal vehicle during the course of authorized company business.
  • Authorized drivers cannot have any of the following: A State record indicating that the driver’s license is currently revoked, suspended or that the status is not valid and current; Multiple violations for driving without insurance; Two at-fault accidents during the past three (3) years; Three moving violations during the last three (3) years; and, Driving under the influence (DUI) or driving while intoxicated (DWI) convictions during the last ten (10) years.
  • Ability to read and write in English fluently
  • Ability to communicate with staff, physicians, support agencies, patients, families, vendors and others
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under stress
  • Ability to tolerate extreme temperatures, weather, and humidity for prolonged periods
  • Ability to respond to pages, telephones, and other auditory stimulation
  • Ability to discriminate color
  • Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions
  • Bending, lifting (10-50 lbs.) from floor to waist, grasping, fine eye/hand coordination, pushing, pulling
  • Physical ability to maintain a Texas Commercial Driver's License
  • Ability to sit/stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to climb stairs
  • Ability to bend/stoop/kneel
  • Ability to walk on uneven surfaces
  • Ability to carry 25 lbs.
  • Ability to push/generate 50 lbs. of force
  • Ability to pull/generate 50 lbs. of force
  • Exposure to infectious organisms, agents and toxic chemicals
