About The Position

Baywood Court is seeking a reliable and service-minded individual to join their team as a Driver. This full-time position is crucial for ensuring the safe transportation of residents to various destinations, promoting their well-being, and providing them with a positive experience. The role involves transporting residents to appointments and day trips, operating vehicles safely, and adhering to Department of Transportation regulations. Baywood Court is a not-for-profit senior living community located in Castro Valley, CA, committed to the health, happiness, and dignity of its residents.

Requirements

• Current Class B license with passenger endorsement.
• Clean driving record.
• Three years of recent experience as a commercial driver.
• Ability to read, speak, and write the English language.
• Ability to read maps and follow directions.
• Basic knowledge of auto mechanics (adding oil, checking tire pressure, adding air and water).
• Must be able to complete and pass a drug screening, physical exam with TB skin test, and criminal clearance through FBI and Department of Justice.
• Must be able to be on feet for more than two hours per day.
• Must be able to lift up to 30lbs on occasion.

Responsibilities

• Transport residents to appointments and conduct day trips, including scenic drives.
• Operate vehicles in a safe and effective manner to minimize the risk of injury or property damage.
• Follow Department of Transportation regulations, including random drug screening and all traffic laws.
• Check schedule books daily for trips, determine activity destinations, and obtain directions and special instructions.
• Monitor residents as they get on and off vehicles.
• Be prompt and greet each resident for the trip.
• Perform any other functions or duties as directed by Supervisory Staff/Management.
