About The Position

This position involves inspecting truck equipment and supplies, driving trucks or equipment to assigned locations, and maintaining communication with the Yard Manager. The role also includes cleaning the inside of the truck, performing routine maintenance, understanding and practicing safety requirements, opening work orders when assigned, reporting accidents, and working harmoniously with all departments.

Requirements

  • Class B License Required.
  • Ability to speak, read and interpret documents in English.
  • Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form.
  • High skill level driving heavy trucks and cranes.
  • Highly detail oriented and organized in work.
  • Acceptable written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with a customer service focus with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving and results.
  • Must have initiative and the ability act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives.
  • Must possess a strong desire to learn.
  • Regularly required to sit.
  • Occasionally required to walk; to climb stairs, and enter and leave truck cab, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to stand.
  • Regularly required to move about the vehicle.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water.
  • Drives truck or equipment to assigned location.
  • Maintains telephone or radio contact with Yard Manager to receive instructions.
  • Cleans inside of truck.
  • Performs routine maintenance on truck or equipment.
  • Must have a working knowledge and understanding of safety requirements and practice them.
  • When assigned, will open a work order so time may be charged out to assigning department.
  • Reports accidents to HR immediately, obtaining names, license numbers and other details.
  • Must work with and for all departments in harmony.
