About The Position

Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens, with over 125 years of service, offers 160-plus programs and services. The Home Delivered Meals Program provides meals to homebound elderly clients in Queens, aiming to improve their quality of life with diverse meal options including Kosher, non-Kosher, halal, Caribbean, Korean, Chinese, South Asian, and Mediterranean cuisines. The Driver will deliver meals and holiday packages to frail and homebound elderly clients, ensuring timely and safe delivery, client well-being checks, and accurate record-keeping.

Requirements

Valid New York State Driver’s License (Class D) required.
Must present abstract of driving record annually.
Ability to drive vehicle for long periods of time.
Ability to get in and out of vehicle frequently.
Must obtain defensive driving certificate within 6 months of employment.
Able to travel to multiple locations within the five boroughs as needed.

Nice To Haves

High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

Deliver meals and holiday packages to frail and homebound elderly clients in the Community.
Pick up food cooler/bags and deliver meals to a predetermined route of homebound clients.
Deliver the meal in person, face to face, and remind clients to refrigerate the meals if not consumed immediately.
Contact the program office immediately when a client does not answer the door and follow instructions.
Report to the program office any observable problems or changes regarding the client and/or any significant information pertaining to the client.
Keep daily gasoline and mileage records.
Pick up and return the vehicle to the parking place daily.
Operate and maintain a 2-way radio in the agency vehicle.
