About The Position

Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens, with over 125 years of service, offers 160-plus programs and services. The Home Delivered Meals Program provides meals to the homebound elderly in Queens, aiming to improve their quality of life by delivering one hot meal and one cold pack. The program offers a variety of cuisines including Kosher, non-Kosher, halal, Caribbean, Korean, Chinese, South Asian, and Mediterranean.

Requirements

Valid New York State Driver’s License (Class D) required.
Must present abstract of driving record annually.
Ability to drive vehicle for long periods of time.
Ability to get in and out of vehicle frequently.
Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Must obtain defensive driving certificate within 6 months of employment.
Bilingual preferred.
Able to travel to multiple locations within the five boroughs as needed.

Responsibilities

Deliver meals and holiday packages to frail and homebound elderly clients in the community.
Pick up food cooler/bags and deliver meals to a predetermined route of homebound clients.
Deliver the meal in person, face-to-face, and remind clients to refrigerate the meals if not consumed immediately.
Contact the program office immediately when a client does not answer the door and follow instructions.
Report any observable problems or changes regarding the client and/or any significant information pertaining to the client to the program office.
Keep daily gasoline and mileage records.
Pick up and return the vehicle to the parking place daily.
Operate and maintain a 2-way radio in the agency vehicle.
