About The Position

Under the direction of the shift supervisor and/or the shift team leader, the CDL Shuttle Driver will be responsible for operating a semi-tractor trailer vehicle for the loading and delivery of products to/from the plant to the warehouse in a manner consistent with all safety, quality, and operational work instructions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Tractor trailer experience.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Satisfactory completion of Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) for tractor trailer operation.
  • Able to work in unregulated temperatures within the warehouse during the warmer and colder months can range from mild to moderate.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • English (reading, writing, verbal).
  • Basic math.
  • Able to work as assigned outside and in a warehouse environment.
  • Ability to read and follow manufacturer's instruction manuals.
  • Ability to accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently or within a group.
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision or guidance.
  • Able to effectively adapt to change and thrive in a stimulating, fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operating the shuttle vehicle on each trip, following all applicable laws and company policy.
  • Accounting for records involving trailer numbers and position of vehicles.
  • Functioning and interacting on a daily basis with warehouse supervisors and complying with warehouse safety requirements.
  • Communicating using cellular telephone or 2-way radio with operations, and warehouse personnel in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Maneuvering trucks into loading and unloading position, following signal from loading crew as needed. Placing safety wheel chocks in front of wheel/tire to prevent the trailer from rolling. If pup trailer movement is involved; extra care must be taken on the placement of the trailer jack stand (when at dock, jack stand must be on the ground and in a locked position). If there is not a jack stand installed on the trailer the customer must be notified.
  • Proper use of Airline/Electrical hookup/and Backing procedure.
  • Following all company policies, guidelines, and quality procedures.
  • Performing other job-related duties as assigned.
  • On a daily basis, inspecting and performing minor maintenance on the equipment.
  • Assisting in maintaining the security of the warehouse and yard.
