About The Position

Midland Care Connection's Meals on Wheels program in Topeka, Kansas, is a vital service that delivers hot, nutritious meals and wellness-checks to homebound seniors and individuals with disabilities in Shawnee, Jefferson, and Douglas counties. The program prioritizes individuals at high nutritional risk and is not income-based, allowing anyone who meets the age or homebound criteria to participate. With the help of hundreds of volunteers who deliver meals Monday–Friday, Midland Care supports independence, reduces social isolation, and ensures older adults receive balanced meals in the comfort of their homes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to supervise staff and volunteers
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to interact compassionately with clients

Nice To Haves

  • Basic computer skills for recordkeeping and reporting
  • Previous experience working with seniors or vulnerable populations

Responsibilities

  • Delivering hot, nutritious meals to homebound seniors and individuals with disabilities along an assigned route.
  • Providing an essential safety check—briefly interacting with each client to ensure they are safe and well.
  • Reporting any concerns or changes in a client’s condition to program staff.
  • Maintaining delivery logs.
  • Following food-safety guidelines.
  • Representing the program with kindness and reliability.
