About The Position

The Distribution & Recycling Center (DRC) Driver serves to pick up donations from community partners and/or residents to be processed, sorted, and distributed to the appropriate location(s). This role also delivers donations to thrift stores for processing and assists in the Distribution & Recycling Center (DRC) warehouse as needed. The driver must be able to operate a box truck and van. The Rescue Mission of Roanoke is a non-profit, faith-based, equal opportunity employer.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license.
Motor Vehicle Record with minimal points.
Must be able to drive a box truck and van.
Ability to use email, internal systems, and basic computer skills.
Possess a sincere love of Christ and maintain a Christian walk that is evident of that love.
Willingness to adhere to The Rescue Mission of Roanoke’s Code of Ethics.
Demonstrates a genuine interest in the safety and well-being of guests and team members.
Understanding of volunteer engagement and ability to utilize and appreciate volunteers in daily tasks.
Strong work ethic and commitment to work as scheduled to include holidays and weekends as assigned.
Strong listening, as well as written & verbal communication skills to execute instructions, keep others informed and exhibit professionalism.
Demonstrated attention to detail/strong organizational skills to assist with multiple daily assignments and special projects.
Ambitious to exceed expectations.

Responsibilities

Pick up donations from community partners and/or residents.
Deliver donations to thrift stores for processing.
Assist in the Distribution & Recycling Center (DRC) warehouse as needed.
Provide proper maintenance of company vehicles (box truck and van).
Maintain a safe driving record during employment.
Assist with processing donations collected at the DRC or from community partners/residents.
Distribute receipts, coupons, and flyers.
Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and security of the warehouse.
Sort and price goods.
Assist volunteers and co-workers with processing of goods.
Complete other duties as assigned by leadership/management.
