About The Position

Alvarado Parkway Institute (API) is a free-standing psychiatric hospital in La Mesa, California with three Intensive Outpatient/Partial Hospitalization Programs. Alvarado Parkway Institute (API) provides comprehensive adult inpatient behavioral health and addictive disorders services in a 66-bed hospital setting located in La Mesa, California. Alvarado Parkway Institute in La Mesa is San Diego County's leading provider of comprehensive mental health and substance abuse care. API offers a variety of Outpatient Services designed to assist patients in functioning at the highest level. API provides Partial Hospitalization services and Intensive Outpatient services. These programs emphasize symptom management, community integration, and prevention of hospitalization or re-hospitalization. Value-added services enhance the patient's treatment experience. Alvarado Parkway Institute is currently seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a Driver. Drivers provide safe, efficient transportation services to patients of API/BHS.

Requirements

  • Legible handwriting
  • Flexibility
  • Adequate time management skills
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving/decision-making.
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Basic auto repair skills, such as ability to change a flat tire, ability to check fluid levels and add fluids, ability to check tire inflation, etc.
  • High school level reading, writing, and arithmetic skills
  • Possession of valid operator's or chauffeur's license (as required by State and CMC Risk Management Dept.)
  • Familiarity with basic automotive maintenance

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

  • Transports patients or clients to and from specified locations.
  • Addresses vehicle maintenance and repair needs in accordance with established procedures.
  • Establishes and maintains effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Maintains any necessary documentation associated with services provided.
  • Participates in training and development activities to enhance job knowledge and skills.
  • Responds to emergency situations.
  • Establishes and maintains good rapport and working relationships to foster intra- and inter-departmental communications necessary for the delivery of quality patient care.
  • Responds to requests for information from patients, families, and caregivers that is within knowledge limits or refers to appropriate staff person as needed.
  • Provides directions as necessary.
  • Reflects the confidentiality of patient and organization information.
  • Communicates pertinent information as necessary by telephone and/or writing.
  • Other duties as assigned.
