About The Position

US Foods is seeking a Driver Trainer to join their team. This role is responsible for training and mentoring new drivers on company policies, procedures, and compliance. The Driver Trainer will also participate in the Safety Performance Team, conduct customer site visits, partner with warehouse supervisors on safety, and perform post-accident ride-alongs to assist with root cause analysis and retraining. The position requires safely driving trucks, unloading products, verifying deliveries, handling collections, and providing excellent customer service. The role also involves participating in offsite training and completing all company-mandated trainings, including the US Foods Driver Onboarding program.

Requirements

  • Register to the FMCSA Clearinghouse
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications
  • Minimum of six months commercial driving experience or three months commercial driving experience in the food and/or beverage delivery industry required
  • Must be able to read and communicate in the English language - able to hold a conversation, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to enter information on reports and records.

  • Ability to operate manual transmission preferred

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the Safety Performance Team and ensure that safety is a key focus.
  • Train and mentor new drivers on company policies, procedures, and monitor compliance/performance.
  • Perform customer site visits to determine feasibility of delivery.
  • Partner with the Night Warehouse Supervisors on safety and visual aids/demonstrations.
  • Perform post-accident ride-a longs with drivers to assist in identifying root cause analysis and re-training as necessary.
  • Participate in offsite training and developmental opportunities.
  • Safely drive trucks to customers and meet scheduled customer delivery times
  • Carefully unload products from the trailer with a two-wheeler, pallet jack, or by hand and place in designated customer storage areas
  • Verify accuracy of delivery with customers and obtain proper signatures
  • Handle collections and payments from customers when applicable
  • Professionally perform customer service responsibilities to enhance our client experience
