About The Position

Gordon Food Service is hiring a Driver Trainee in Niles, Michigan. The trainee will learn to drive a truck and earn a CDL A license while working alongside drivers and building relationships with customers. The role involves delivering food products to restaurants, schools, hospitals, universities, and other customers. The trainee must unload cases weighing up to 100 pounds and use a ramp and two-wheeler during the shift. A CDL A permit is required to start, and the company offers support, expertise, and professional development. The schedule is Monday through Friday, starting between 3:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. and continuing until the route is finished. Pay is $26.01 per hour, with bonuses and incentives mentioned. Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check and be registered with the Department of Transportation Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse, with electronic consent provided.

Requirements

At least 21 years of age.
CDL A permit required to start.
Ability to operate a two-wheel cart with loads of up to 350 pounds.
Successfully pass a drug test, including screening for marijuana, and a background check.
Register with the Department of Transportation Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse and provide electronic consent.
Provide a letter of support from management if currently employed by a Gordon Food Service customer and selected for the interview process.
