Driver Trainee

Republic Services•Bryan, OH

About The Position

A Driver Trainee completes Republic Services’ comprehensive training program to obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL), with the goal of moving into a Driver position after obtaining the license. Training includes classroom study, on-route training, driving experience, and resources—including the loan of a truck—to prepare for the state CDL examination. After obtaining a CDL, the trainee transitions to a Driver role in a Company line of business, such as Residential, Commercial, Industrial, or Roll-Off. The trainee must complete twelve full months of employment with Republic Services after obtaining a CDL. The role involves learning to inspect, operate, and maintain an assigned heavy or commercial truck safely; follow routes and service customers; handle and dispose of collected refuse; identify unsatisfactory containers and unacceptable waste; and follow Company safety policies and procedures. Once a CDL is obtained, the employee performs the responsibilities of a Driver in the assigned line of business.
