About The Position

The NIM Transportation Driver Supervisor is responsible for driver recruitment, development, and retention, as well as dispatch, routing, and truck shop management. The role involves using Samsara to maintain driver logs, HOS violations, unassigned driving time, and driver tracking. The supervisor utilizes Samsara's safety features and driver scorecard for coaching and maintaining a safe fleet. This position also includes following accident reporting processes, participating in accident investigations, driver recruiting, hiring, and onboarding. The supervisor maintains Driver Qualification Files in accordance with FMCSA regulations, communicates with the corporate truck shop for equipment maintenance and inventory, and collaborates with the Corporate Safety team for driver trainer updates on Smith Systems. Additionally, the role involves preparing and conducting quarterly safety meetings and performing driver ride-alongs for coaching, evaluation, and customer relations.

Requirements

  • Leadership, communication and relationship building skills
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Knows and understands FMCSA/DOT rules and regulations
  • Must be organized and have the ability to multitask

Responsibilities

  • Driver recruitment, development and retention of drivers
  • Dispatch, routing and truck shop management
  • Uses Samsara to maintain drivers logs, HOS violations, unassigned driving time and driver tracking
  • Uses Samsara's safety features and the driver scorecard as tools to coach and maintain a safe fleet
  • Follows the accident reporting process for notification and works with all parties during the Accident Investigation for future prevention
  • Is involved in driver recruiting and the hiring / onboarding process
  • Maintains Driver Qualification Files in accordance with FMCSA
  • Keeps track of and communicates with the corporate truck shop on maintaining tractors, trailers, parts and equipment inventories
  • Selects and works with The Corporate Safety team to keep driver trainers updated on Smith Systems to ensure new drivers are being trained effectively
  • Prepares, conducts and presents quarterly safety meetings to inform and coach drivers in all aspects of transportation safety
  • Goes on driver ride-along for coaching and driver evaluation opportunities as well as customer relations
