Driver-Outreach Assistant

Uintah County UTVernal, UT
Onsite

About The Position

The Driver-Outreach Assistant manages and operates the Uintah County Library’s mobile fleet, providing critical library services to remote communities across the rural highways and mountain roads of Uintah and Daggett counties. Reporting to the Assistant Director, this role oversees the vehicle’s daily safety inspections, maintenance logs, and fleet coordination while running the Little Library Express summer schedule and preparing for expansion into a full-scale bookmobile. On the road, the Assistant acts as a front-line point of contact: executing standard circulation tasks via the Integrated Library System (ILS), registering new cardholders, processing fines, and offering technical troubleshooting for on-vehicle Wi-Fi and digital resources. Additionally, the role collaborates closely with the Programming and Outreach Librarian to systematically rotate and merchandise the collection, foster a welcoming environment at all community stops through spontaneous children's programming, track daily operational statistics, and strictly maintain patron confidentiality in compliance with Utah Code.
