About The Position

The Driver (Non-CDL) is responsible for coordinating, tracking, and documenting the movement of parts to and from vendors. This role involves transporting parts between departments, plants, and vendors, ensuring accurate and timely movement through the manufacturing process. The position also requires maintaining quality records, invoices, and packing slips to support quality documentation requirements.

Requirements

  • Current and valid operator’s/driver’s license.
  • Minimum of two (2) years licensed driving experience.
  • At least 21 years of age or older.
  • Minimum of one year driving experience within a 30-mile radius of the plant.
  • Ability to follow written instructions.
  • Ability to organize information and materials, and attend to details.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to organize/manage time and workloads effectively and to work independently.
  • Ability to attend to detail, resolve record keeping problems and work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to interact effectively with others.
  • Ability to work in difficult working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes and other elements for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to drive a truck (up to 26,000 LBS GVW).
  • Works well independently.
  • Familiarity with GPS devices or map apps.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous manufacturing floor experience or dispatching experience affording knowledge of the importance of part location tracking.
  • Previous data entry and inventory control experience.
  • Experience in Visibility or an MRP system.

Responsibilities

  • Verify and match part lots with paperwork, purchase orders, routing information, serial numbers, and quantities before transporting.
  • Ensure all necessary signoffs on work completion and routing information are obtained before transporting lots.
  • Reconcile problems regarding paperwork or part inaccuracies with Leads and ensure communication among production departments regarding product movement.
  • Move parts by hand, pallet jack, electric jack, forklifts, and hoists according to routers.
  • Coordinate loading and unloading of product to and from Division service centers (e.g., machine shop, vendors, SSB1, HIP, LSBS, SSBO).
  • Update computerized inventory control systems to reflect locations and directly move product as needed.
  • Make computer entries to update the inventory and location of parts, entering transaction codes on all lot movements.
  • Ensure part lot numbers are accurately accounted for upon return from vendors.
  • Dispatch jobs and move parts to the next location.
  • Complete daily cycle counts and lot moves to maintain accurate inventory control.
  • Maintain a neat and organized truck.
  • Clean floors, sweep aisles, and keep aisles free of parts and pallets.
  • Adhere to plant and department safety rules.
  • Safely operate all equipment and tools.
  • Identify and report safety problems.
  • Complete logs and records for trucks.
  • Obtain a medical card.
  • Perform other tasks as directed.
