About The Position

Ryder is hiring a NON-CDL Truck Driver in Edgewood, NY — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career you can feel good about. This position involves delivering SOLO within a 250-mile radius of Edgewood NY, including the 5 Boroughs. The route is local, allowing drivers to be home daily. The truck type is a 26' Box Truck, equipped with a dolly and door cart. The freight is touch freight, specifically windows and doors. Trucks are 36 months or newer, include 24/7 Roadside Maintenance, and company drivers fuel up at over 800 Maintenance Facilities Nationwide. Ryder offers competitive pay, with drivers earning $1140 or more per week, paid weekly at an hourly rate of $24.00 per hour for 40-50 hours per week. Paid training is provided. The schedule is Monday – Friday, with NO WEEKENDS, and a start time of 5:00 AM.

Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Minimum of 6 months of verifiable driving experience
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
  • Must have verifiable driving experience (must be in like equipment if position being applied for is operating a straight truck or box truck): 6 Months experience in the past 3 years, OR 2 years' experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years' experience within the last 10 years
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures
  • Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Safely driving a vehicle within and requires compliance with safety regulations, continuous training and customer service.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
  • Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
  • Maintaining accurate records
  • Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
  • Other tasks as assigned
