About The Position

Primary duties include operating a truck and trailer for the pick-up and delivery of power generation rental equipment. This role also involves repairing, servicing, inspecting, and preparing rental equipment for delivery. Responsibilities include the set-up of equipment and accessories at job sites, such as electrical cable, air hose, water hose, and electrical panels. The Driver/Mechanic will instruct customers on the safe and proper operation of equipment and communicate information regarding equipment condition, problems, and recommendations. Maintaining the delivery and pick-up schedule is crucial. An after-hours call rotation is required to assist with client emergency calls before/after regular business hours to support client emergency response needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Current driver’s license.
  • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
  • Demonstrated technical skill competence.
  • Appropriate manner, conduct, and grooming adhere to company policy.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to maintain consistent attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • May be required to operate a forklift with appropriate certification(s).

Responsibilities

  • Operate truck and trailer, pick-up and delivery of power generation rental equipment.
  • Repair, service, inspect and prepare rental equipment for delivery.
  • Set-up of equipment and accessories at job site including electrical cable, air hose, water hose, and electrical panels.
  • Instruct customer on safe and proper operation of equipment.
  • Communicate information regarding equipment condition, problems, and recommendations.
  • Maintain delivery and pick-up schedule.
  • Participate in an after-hours call rotation for client emergency calls.
  • Operate, load, and prepare equipment to be hauled, ensuring all loads are properly prepared, loaded, and secured.
  • Accurately log time and hours of equipment use.
  • Prepare, maintain, and submit all required reports, logs, and forms such as trip logs, manifest and timecards.
  • Check the manifest against all material picked up or delivered at each stop.
  • Perform a thorough check of the truck before and after each stop.
  • Comply with all Federal ICC, DOT, state and local traffic and highway laws, rules, and regulations for over-the-road driving of trucks.
  • Report any hauling equipment operation trouble noticed during each trip.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and minor repair work on equipment as directed by supervisor.
  • Give full, courteous cooperation and prompt service to customers.
  • Maintain company equipment, keeping it in good, clean, orderly condition.
  • Report repair or replacement needs to supervisor.
  • Work safely at all times and adhere to all applicable safety policies.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Maintain company equipment by checking fuel, oil, water, tires etc. on truck and equipment before starting.
  • Prepare before and stow away after each trip (chains, blocks and gear).
  • Gather information from a walk around inspection and report to customer/management.
  • Prepare the Drivers Inspection report – complete daily.
  • Communicate orally and in writing information regarding equipment condition, problems, and recommendations.
  • Maintain current MSHA card if work area requires.
  • Provide on-the-job training as assigned.
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Travel to remote locations as needed.
  • Communicate with proper individuals to clarify instructions or discuss scope or progress of job.
