About The Position

Clemens Food Group is seeking a Driver Manager – Livestock to lead professional CDL drivers and support the safe, humane, and reliable transportation of live hogs from Pennsylvania farms to our Hatfield harvest facility. This is a hands-on role for an experienced transportation leader who can lead drivers, build trust, and deliver results in a dynamic operation. You’ll provide day-to-day leadership for the driver team while partnering closely with Dispatch, Farms, Harvest Operations, Fleet Maintenance, and Transportation leadership to keep people, equipment, and schedules aligned with business needs. Success in this role goes beyond keeping loads moving. You’ll be responsible for developing and retaining drivers, maintaining high safety standards, improving equipment utilization, using operational data to drive performance, and responding effectively when plans change. Previous livestock transportation experience is a plus, but it isn’t required. We can teach the livestock, animal welfare, biosecurity, and related operational requirements. You need a strong foundation in transportation operations, demonstrated people leadership, and the ability to learn quickly and take ownership.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in transportation, trucking, fleet operations, logistics, agriculture, food manufacturing, or a similar operational environment preferred.
  • Prior experience leading professional CDL drivers, frontline employees, or operational teams strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of DOT requirements, transportation safety, and compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced, time-sensitive operation.
  • Experience using operational metrics to identify trends and improve performance.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
  • Ability to balance team member needs with operational requirements.
  • Ability to remain effective in a transportation operation that functions outside traditional business hours.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and transportation-related technology preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent operational and leadership experience will also be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with livestock transportation, animal welfare, biosecurity, or related livestock operations is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop professional CDL drivers and trailer wash team members.
  • Oversee daily Live Haul / Market Haul transportation execution, including staffing, equipment availability, and schedule performance.
  • Build strong relationships with drivers and maintain a visible presence within the operation.
  • Partner with Dispatch, Farms, Harvest Operations, Fleet Maintenance, and other teams to quickly resolve operational issues.
  • Champion driver safety, animal welfare, DOT compliance, biosecurity, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support trailer wash operations to ensure clean trailers are available and sanitation and biosecurity standards are consistently met.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and use operational data to improve safety, service, equipment utilization, productivity, and cost.
  • Address performance issues, staffing needs, and operational challenges in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify work, improve reliability, and continuously strengthen the overall Market Haul operation.
