As a Driver License Examiner with the Department of Transportation, you will help ensure every driver is ready for the road. Requirements
- One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
- Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public
- Active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent
- Twenty-one years of age at the time of application
- No suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five year period immediately preceding employment
- Must meet the PA residency requirement
- Must be able to perform essential job functions
- Conditional offer of employment will require submission of criminal history reports
- Selected candidate to undergo and pass a Fingerprint and Name-Based Criminal History Check prior to employment
Nice To Haves
- All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct standardized driving examinations to assess applicant competence and safety awareness
- Determine physical qualifications, review documents, and check vehicles for required mechanical conditions
- Administer written and vision exams and evaluate applicant understanding of motor vehicle laws and traffic signs
- Examine applications and registrations for irregularities and ensure accuracy in processing
- Follow all Safety Administration policies to provide courteous and consistent service
