About The Position

This role focuses on evaluating driver license applicants to ensure they meet safety and identity requirements. You will be responsible for administering tests, reviewing documents, and communicating clearly with customers throughout the licensing process. As a Driver License Examiner w/ CDL, you will perform the following duties: Applicant Evaluation: Determine physical qualifications, driving ability, and vehicle condition for compliance with safety standards Knowledge Testing: Administer written examinations to confirm understanding of traffic signs and the Vehicle Code Skills Testing: Conduct driving skills tests for both non-commercial and CDL applicants following department standards Document Verification: Examine and authenticate identity documents, registrations, insurance cards, and legal records Fraud Prevention: Identify possible fraud, protect against false identities, and access systems to confirm authenticity Customer Communication: Explain procedures, test results, complaint processes, and licensing requirements to applicants.

Requirements

  • Active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application
  • No suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five year period immediately preceding employment
  • Must obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment
  • Possession of an active Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License or equivalent with P and N endorsements
  • Commercial Driver License cannot have any of the following restrictions: E, L, N, O, or Z
  • Meet the PA residency requirement
  • Able to perform essential job functions
  • Submission of criminal history reports required for conditional offer of employment
  • Undergo and pass a Fingerprint and Name-Based Criminal History Check prior to employment

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public
