This position evaluates driver license applicants and supports daily operations at Driver License Centers. You ensure that testing, identity checks, and processing tasks are completed accurately and in accordance with regulations.

Requirements

  • One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) ; or Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public
  • Active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent
  • Twenty-one years of age at the time of application
  • No suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five year period immediately preceding employment
  • Must obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment (for employees hired after February 28, 2022)
  • Active Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License or equivalent with P and N endorsements
  • Commercial Driver License cannot have any of the following restrictions: E, L, N, O, or Z
  • Meet the PA residency requirement
  • Able to perform essential job functions
  • Undergo and pass a Fingerprint and Name-Based Criminal History Check prior to employment

Responsibilities

  • Determine qualifications of applicants and verify that vehicles meet required safety standards
  • Conduct commercial and non commercial knowledge and road examinations according to established procedures
  • Examine identity, citizenship, residency, and licensing documents for authenticity
  • Use systems and databases to confirm identity and detect potential fraud
  • Issue driver license products and provide information related to licensing services
  • Follow customer service policies, fee waiver guidelines, REAL ID requirements, and Title VI standards
