About The Position

The Salvation Army is seeking a Driver/Janitor to join their Administration department. This position is responsible for cleaning and sanitation of Salvation Army properties, as well as safely transporting individuals and performing various driving-related duties. The role requires a commitment to supporting the Mission of The Salvation Army.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent.
  • Valid PA Driver’s License with good driving record.
  • Experience with driving and property cleaning/maintenance.
  • Must understand and support the Mission of The Salvation Army.
  • PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
  • Completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment.

  • CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Sweep, mop, vacuum floors in all areas of The Salvation Army properties.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors.
  • Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
  • Dust and wipe down surfaces, including tables, chairs, and countertops.
  • Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces.
  • Maintain cleanliness in common areas, such as lobbies, hallways, and meeting rooms.
  • Safely transport individuals to and from Salvation Army functions.
  • Record any damages or wear in the bus journal and report to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain and clean the interior and exterior of vehicles, and report any problems to the supervisor.
  • Secure vehicles at the end of the day: locking all doors and windows and removing trash and lost and found items.
  • Abide by all applicable driving laws and regulations.
  • Participate in drug testing as requested.
  • Perform special pick-ups assigned by supervisor’s instructions.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical problems and report problems to the supervisor.
  • Keep all maintenance equipment in working condition and clean after every repair.
  • Assist in unloading and storing vendor deliveries and donations.
  • Pick up weekly food bank orders and deliveries to specific storage areas.
  • Perform other errands as assigned.
  • Maintain organization of all Corps storage areas and assist as needed.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
