About The Position

The Salvation Army is hiring a Driver/Janitor to join their Administration Department. This position is responsible for cleaning and sanitation of Salvation Army properties, as well as safely transporting individuals to and from Salvation Army functions. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid PA Driver's License with a good driving record (CDL preferred), and experience with driving and property cleaning/maintenance. Requirements

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent.
  • Valid PA Driver’s License with good driving record, CDL preferred.
  • Experience with driving and property cleaning/maintenance.
  • Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. In addition, completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment.
  • Must understand and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

  • Sweep, mop, vacuum floors in all areas of The Salvation Army properties.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors.
  • Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
  • Dust and wipe down surfaces, including tables, chairs, and countertops.
  • Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces.
  • Maintain cleanliness in common areas, such as lobbies, hallways, and meeting rooms.
  • Safely transport individuals to and from Salvation Army functions.
  • Record any damages or wear in bus journal and report to Supervisor.
  • Maintain/Clean the interior and exterior of vehicles, Report any problems to supervisor.
  • Responsible for securing vehicles at the end of the day: locking all doors and windows and removing trash and lost and found items.
  • Abide by all applicable driving laws and regulations.
  • Participate in drug testing as requested.
  • Do special pick-ups assigned by supervisor’s instructions.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical problems and report problems to supervisor.
  • Keep all maintenance equipment in working condition and clean after every repair.
  • Assist in unloading and storing vendor deliveries and donations.
  • Pick up weekly food bank orders and deliveries to specific storage areas errands as assigned.
  • Maintain organization of all Corps storage areas and assist as needed.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
