About The Position

The Arc of the St. Johns, Inc. is looking for part time drivers to join their team. This role is ideal for individuals seeking rewarding part-time work, providing a vital service to clientele. The driver will work alongside a dedicated team to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals impacted by developmental disabilities. The position involves operating a van to transport clients, including those with severe handicaps, safely and on schedule. Responsibilities include assisting clients in and out of the vehicle, securing them and their wheelchairs, maintaining discipline, and ensuring the van is in proper working order.

Requirements

High School diploma
Clear Level 2 criminal background screening (local and national)
Florida driver license with clean record

Responsibilities

Operates a van to transport clients including both severely handicapped and non-severely handicapped in a safe and timely manner.
Operate a large van over a designated route according to an established time schedule; transports clients from home to Main site and then Main site to home, or for special outings.
Assists clients with disabilities in and out of the vehicle; physically maneuvers wheelchair clients up and down ramp or automatic lift; positions clients in their seats; fastens harnesses and belts.
Secure clients to wheelchairs/seats and wheelchairs to van.
Maintain discipline on the van.
Maintains effective communication with site staff and family members.
Follows a set procedure to check the vans daily ensuring it is in proper working order including checking for proper maintenance and safety, including checking fluid and fuel levels and replacing as needed and reporting need for maintenance and repair work.
Keeping proper mileage logs/paperwork.
