About The Position

DO & CO is seeking a dynamic and energetic Driver Helper in Romulus. The role assists drivers with transporting goods and materials and supports the correct catering of aircraft. The Driver Helper follows airport, airline, food safety, and hygiene regulations, helps keep vehicles in working condition, and performs other duties as assigned. Most duties are performed outdoors in varying weather conditions, and the position involves physical work during shifts of 8 or more hours.

Requirements

• Be capable of working independently and as part of a team.
• Meet the requirements necessary to obtain an airport ID.
• Pass a criminal background check.
• Communicate effectively with team members and ensure communication is clear and understood by coworkers.
• Be able to lift, push, pull, and move products, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Be able to work at heights of 20–25 feet.
• Be able to stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently during shifts of 8 or more hours.
• Be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and tolerate extreme temperature changes and noise.

Responsibilities

• Assist drivers with loading, off-loading, picking up, and delivering goods and materials.
• Load and unload aircraft according to airline and DO & CO regulations and specifications, ensuring flights are catered correctly.
• Maintain vehicles in working condition, including fueling and pre- and post-trip checks, and immediately report vehicle irregularities to dispatch.
• Comply with airport, airline, and other applicable rules and regulations.
• Follow food safety and hygiene regulations in the food safety management system handbook, and report problems to a manager and the hygiene and food safety team.
• Help maintain a safe workplace.
• Provide general information to the public and other concerned parties regarding department policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local laws.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
