About The Position

We are seeking compassionate and dependable team members to provide safe, secure transportation for ambulatory and cooperative patients. This role focuses on patient safety, comfort, and transportation support without providing medical care. Operates a bus or sedan in providing transportation to John Knox Village residents, under the immediate supervision of the Public Safety Supervisor and/or the Dispatcher who acts as communications link for the Director of Public Safety. Supportive of the Village’s mission, values, and service/hospitality (PRIDE) expectations. Completes training as required by policy.

Requirements

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to safely assist ambulatory patients during transfers.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor.
Class E license
Must have a valid MO Class E (or higher) driver’s license at time of hire.
Must be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical and drug screen and maintain a D.O.T. medical card.
Prior commercial driving experience preferred.
Beginner level Microsoft Office software knowledge (Windows, Word, Excel and Outlook) required.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, handbooks and procedure manuals.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Handles stress well, gets along with others and maintains acceptable standards of conduct.
Adheres to all safety regulations and requirements.
The associate may be required to interact with individuals with challenged mental capacities.

Responsibilities

Provide secure transportation for ambulatory, cooperative patients using a transport van.
Safely transport patients between healthcare facilities and other designated destinations.
Assist patients with entering and exiting the vehicle while ensuring their safety during transfers.
Monitor patient well-being, comfort, and safety throughout transport.
Maintain a professional, respectful, and customer-focused environment during all transports.
Perform local and long-distance transports while ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for passengers.
Adhere to all company policies, safety standards, and transportation regulations.
Conduct routine vehicle inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness and readiness.
Drives bus to transport passengers over specified routes to local or distant points according to time schedule. Keeps passenger safety a top priority at all times.
Assists passengers with getting into or out of vehicle and assists with baggage.
Regulates heating, lighting and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.
Complies with local traffic regulation and safety precautions for passengers.
Reports delays, accidents and traffic violations.
Inspect bus and maintain proper levels of gas, oil and water before departure.
May load or unload baggage or express checked by passengers in baggage compartment.
Transports and secures passengers luggage, groceries and wheelchair.
Spends a majority of the day driving a sedan or a bus.
Keeps vehicle clean inside and out.
Handles stress well and gets along with others within the workplace and with customers outside the department.
Maintains acceptable standards of workplace conduct.
