About The Position

A Driver - CDL (B) safely operates a collection truck and provides prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services. The driver ensures the vehicle meets Company safety standards before operation, follows Company, state, and federal regulations, and completes daily vehicle condition reports so defects can be repaired promptly. The position also involves serving assigned customer routes, transporting collected waste to designated disposal facilities, maintaining the truck and its equipment, completing required reports, and meeting department productivity and safety standards.

Requirements

Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes endorsement.
Good customer service skills and a professional, courteous, cooperative, honest, and trustworthy approach.
Good time-management skills to complete assigned responsibilities efficiently and safely.
Ability to follow through, adhere to the work schedule, and address challenges as they arise.

Responsibilities

Perform complete pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections in accordance with Company policy, checking tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls; report safety issues.
Safely operate the truck along designated routes and to disposal sites, using route sheets and maps and servicing customers as assigned.
Operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse, operate the compactor, and dispose of collected material at designated facilities.
Interact courteously and professionally with customers, dispatchers, and others to ensure routes are serviced promptly.
Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag them according to applicable procedures.
Monitor waste for unacceptable materials and clean up accidental spills in accordance with applicable safety standards and policies.
Monitor vehicle condition and maintain operational readiness; clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on disposal trips where appropriate.
Complete required route and productivity sheets, vehicle condition reports, and other reports.
Meet required departmental productivity standards.
Follow required safety policies and procedures and actively participate in the Company’s ReSOP program.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
