About The Position

A Driver - CDL (B) safely operates a collection truck and provides prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services to customers. The role includes checking the vehicle for compliance with Company safety standards before operation, following Company, state, and federal regulations while driving, and completing daily vehicle condition reports so defects can be repaired promptly. Drivers service assigned routes, transport collected material to designated disposal facilities, maintain the vehicle and required records, and follow safety and productivity standards.

Requirements

Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes endorsement.
Good customer service skills and a professional, courteous, cooperative, honest, and trustworthy approach toward customers and coworkers.
Good time-management skills to complete responsibilities efficiently and safely.
Ability to follow through, adhere to the work schedule, and address challenges as they arise.
Ability to follow Company policies and rules, promote safety standards, and avoid inappropriate risks.

Responsibilities

Perform complete pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections in accordance with Company policy, check vehicle components and safety equipment, and report safety issues.
Safely operate the heavy truck on the designated route and to the disposal site, using route sheets and maps and servicing assigned customers.
Use manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse, operate the compactor, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
Interact courteously and professionally with customers, dispatchers, and others to ensure routes are serviced promptly.
Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag them according to departmental procedures.
Monitor waste for unacceptable materials.
Clean the area after accidental waste spills while following applicable safety standards and policies.
Monitor vehicle condition and readiness, minimize downtime, and clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on disposal trips where appropriate.
Complete required route and productivity sheets, vehicle condition reports, and other reports.
Meet department productivity standards so customers are serviced efficiently and on time.
Follow required safety policies and procedures and actively participate in the Company’s ReSOP program.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
