About The Position

Sheridan Nurseries Mississauga is actively searching for a Driver 5-Ton Truck for a seasonal, part-time role. The duties of this position include driving a 5-ton truck and/or cube van to make deliveries primarily in the vicinity of Mississauga and Oakville, as well as other rural and urban areas including downtown Toronto. It involves loading and unloading of product and overall assistance in the Garden Centre. This position is an extension of our Garden Centres and our Drivers are expected to deliver outstanding guest service that emulates the experience in our stores.

Requirements

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and hold a G class license with a clean driving abstract.
Experience driving a truck or cube van in a variety of different road and weather conditions.
Ability to adapt and prioritize multiple tasks and situations with effective time management skills.
You are punctual and dependable, and highly value honesty, integrity, and authenticity.
Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
Prior experience working in customer-facing roles.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a variety of weather conditions.
This position is required to work weekdays, as well as occasional weekends and evenings as scheduled.
Being fully vaccinated for Covid-19 is a condition of employment for this position (subject to any accommodation required under the Ontario Human Rights Code).

Responsibilities

Responsible for operating a 5-ton truck and/or cube van while delivering and receiving product in excellent condition as per our corporate policies and delivery best practices.
Loading and unloading product from vehicles.
Conducting product transfers and deliveries between Sheridan locations across the GTA.
Obeying all MTO requirements and keeping organized documentation of all trucking and delivery related information.
Work in conjunction with Store Management and the Joint Health & Safety Committee to ensure a safe work environment for all through adhering to safe driving and health and safety best practices, hazard reporting, and leading by example.
Actively seek to increase knowledge base of Sheridan Nurseries products and services.
Other duties around the Garden Centre as assigned by Management.
