Responsible for the safe transportation of ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals from residence to programming areas. This role involves daily maintenance and safety checks on vehicles, maintaining logs of ridership and mileage, and executing emergency evacuations if needed. The driver will also encourage and guide individuals in developing daily living skills, intervene in cases of inappropriate behavior, and assist in maintaining a safe and comfortable environment. A key aspect of the role is understanding and advocating for individual rights, serving as a positive role model, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. The driver must also read and understand Individual Plan of Protection (IPOPs) for riders and report any pertinent information to their manager.
