About The Position

A Driver 1 at M.C. Dean, Inc. transports materials from the Company’s warehouse and area vendors to job sites throughout Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., using Company vehicles, including a commercial box truck. The driver also delivers documents, packages, messages, and other items between Company divisions and job sites, and coordinates with the corporate office after deliveries to confirm completed deliveries and collections and receive further instructions. The role involves planning and following efficient delivery routes; receiving and recording delivery information and recipients’ responses; obtaining signatures or payments; and sorting items by route. The position is physically demanding and may require working outdoors in varied weather, in construction or restricted-access areas, and at heights. Work hours are flexible and may include overtime, weekends, and night shifts to meet project schedules. Drivers must work professionally around customers and their representatives. The stated pay range is $21.00–$23.00 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma and at least 1 year of experience.
Clean driving record.
Knowledge of surrounding area roads and highways.
Successfully pass a background check.
Ability and CMV certification to operate a motor vehicle with a gross vehicle weight, gross vehicle weight rating, gross combination weight, or gross combination weight rating of 10,001 pounds or more.
Successfully complete a DOT physical.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.
Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly, using proper lifting techniques and safety protocols.
Ability to relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
Ability to work at heights up to 60 feet and climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and ladders.
Ability to walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead routinely and repetitively.
Good vision, which may be corrected, ability to see color, and ability to hear and communicate in English.
Ability to use a standard ladder without exceeding its weight limit while carrying tools.
Ability to recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong.
Ability to apply general rules to specific problems and combine information to form conclusions.
Ability to see details at close range.
Ability to listen to and understand spoken information and ideas.

Responsibilities

Move materials from the Company’s warehouse and area vendors to job sites using M.C. Dean, Inc. vehicles.
Check with the corporate office after deliveries to confirm deliveries and collections and receive instructions for other deliveries.
Deliver messages, documents, packages, and other items between Company divisions and job sites.
Obtain signatures and payments or arrange for recipients to make payments.
Plan and follow efficient routes for delivering goods.
Receive delivery messages or materials and recipient information, including names, addresses, telephone numbers, and delivery instructions.
Record information such as items received and delivered and recipients’ responses to messages.
Sort items according to delivery routes.
Maintain warehouse and materials in a clean and organized manner.
Follow safety protocols and maintain a professional, courteous image when working around customers and their representatives.
