About The Position

This position is for a Drive Shop Technician responsible for assisting with the inspection, cleaning, handling, and preparation of Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) and related components. The role involves supporting basic shop testing activities under supervision, documenting equipment conditions and repair status, and organizing shop materials. The technician will prepare drives for various processes, follow safety and quality standards, and assist senior technicians with troubleshooting and repair. The position includes structured on-the-job training to build knowledge in VSDs, electrical safety, motors, controls, and shop processes, with a gradual development of skills in inspection, testing, documentation, and repair support. Independent electrical troubleshooting or critical repair activities will only be performed after proper training and authorization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
  • Interest in electrical, mechanical, industrial, or technical work.
  • Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work effectively in a shop environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school, trade school, military, or vocational training in electrical, electronics, mechanical, instrumentation, automation, or industrial maintenance.
  • Basic understanding of electrical components, hand tools, meters, or shop equipment.
  • Previous experience in a maintenance, repair, warehouse, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with motors, drives, control panels, circuit boards, or electronic components is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the inspection, cleaning, handling, and preparation of Variable Speed Drives and related components.
  • Support basic shop testing activities under supervision.
  • Help document equipment condition, repair status, test results, and parts requirements.
  • Assist with organizing VSD parts, tools, test equipment, and shop materials.
  • Support parameter backup, labeling, tagging, and recordkeeping activities.
  • Prepare drives and components for repair, replacement, shipping, or storage.
  • Follow established shop procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Assist senior technicians with troubleshooting and repair activities as directed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Participate in training to build knowledge of VSDs, electrical safety, motors, controls, and shop processes.
