About The Position

This position is for a Drive Shop Technician in the Permian region. The role involves assisting with the inspection, cleaning, handling, and preparation of Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) and related components. The technician will support basic shop testing activities under supervision, help document equipment conditions and repair status, and assist with organizing parts, tools, and test equipment. Responsibilities also include preparing drives for various stages like repair or shipping, following established procedures, and assisting senior technicians with troubleshooting and repair. The role emphasizes maintaining a clean and safe work area and participating in training to build knowledge of VSDs, electrical safety, motors, controls, and shop processes. Independent troubleshooting or critical repair activities will not be expected until proper training and authorization are received.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
  • Interest in electrical, mechanical, industrial, or technical work.
  • Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work effectively in a shop environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school, trade school, military, or vocational training in electrical, electronics, mechanical, instrumentation, automation, or industrial maintenance.
  • Basic understanding of electrical components, hand tools, meters, or shop equipment.
  • Previous experience in a maintenance, repair, warehouse, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with motors, drives, control panels, circuit boards, or electronic components is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the inspection, cleaning, handling, and preparation of Variable Speed Drives and related components.
  • Support basic shop testing activities under supervision.
  • Help document equipment condition, repair status, test results, and parts requirements.
  • Assist with organizing VSD parts, tools, test equipment, and shop materials.
  • Support parameter backup, labeling, tagging, and recordkeeping activities.
  • Prepare drives and components for repair, replacement, shipping, or storage.
  • Follow established shop procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Assist senior technicians with troubleshooting and repair activities as directed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Participate in training to build knowledge of VSDs, electrical safety, motors, controls, and shop processes.
