About The Position

The Driller is responsible for operating, maintaining, repairing, and cleaning heavy equipment, including Bauer, Liebherr, or similar drill rigs. This role involves ensuring the proper setup and assembly of drill rigs, performing daily and weekly inspections, and conducting routine maintenance and minor repairs. The Driller must also maintain daily drill logs, identify and correct safety hazards, and support all field activities. Additionally, the Driller will direct the operation of field personnel assigned to the drill crew and recognize conflicts with other work on the job site.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of heavy machinery operation and capabilities.
  • Thorough understanding of different drilling and excavating techniques.
  • Strong mechanical, hydraulic, & electrical aptitude and the ability to identify equipment problems.
  • Ability to listen, read, understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Superintendents, Mechanics, and Engineers.
  • Ability to work in challenging environments and remote locations.
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Hand Signaling & Rigging certification
  • Manlift certification
  • Forklift certification

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience operating drill rigs and other heavy equipment.
  • Full Displacement (FDP) or Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) drilling experience.
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • NCCO for Drill Rigs certification
  • NCCO for Crawler Cranes certification
  • Manufacturer specific Drill Rig certification
  • Excavation/Trenching certification
  • Defensive Driver Training certification

Responsibilities

  • Follows all safety rules and regulations.
  • Recognizing and correcting safety hazards.
  • Operating, maintaining, repairing, and cleaning heavy equipment including Bauer, Liebherr, or similar drill rigs.
  • Ensure the proper setup and assembly of the drill rigs during mobilization and demobilization.
  • Preforming and documenting daily and weekly inspections (including in the manlift at heights up to 85’).
  • Performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on drill rigs.
  • Maintaining daily drill logs and equipment inspection forms.
  • Informs Superintendent or site mechanic of malfunctioning equipment or equipment related problems.
  • Recognizing any conflicts with our work and the work of others being performed on the job site.
  • Supporting all field activities as required on project sites.
  • Effectively directing the operation of the field personnel assigned to the drill crew.
