About The Position

The Driller Helper supports geotechnical drilling operations by assisting with the setup, operation, and maintenance of drilling equipment while following safe work practices on-site. The role includes handling materials, collecting samples, performing routine maintenance, and working closely with the Driller to support efficient and accurate subsurface investigations. The Driller Helper is expected to maintain a positive customer service attitude and demonstrate an understanding of ECS Core Values. The position may involve working out of town, overnight travel, and non-standard schedules as project work requires.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• No related experience required.
• A valid driver's license is required if driving for or on behalf of an ECS subsidiary.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to read maps, follow directions, and interpret engineering and construction plans.
• Ability to interpret field data.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work effectively under close supervision.
• Ability to travel overnight as needed for project-related work.

Nice To Haves

• OSHA 40 certification.
• Hands-on experience with drill rigs, drilling procedures, and sampling methods.

Responsibilities

• Assist with drilling operations, including borings and Geoprobe work.
• Locate boring positions in the field using maps, plans, or GPS systems.
• Record required drilling data accurately.
• Report project-specific issues to the Project Manager or Supervisor.
• Perform routine maintenance on drill rigs and support trucks and report repair needs.
• Follow company safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
• Load drill rigs and support vehicles with necessary supplies each day.
• Complete timesheets and field documentation promptly and accurately.
• Care for and clean assigned company vehicles, drilling equipment, and other tools.
• Maintain professional behavior and quality standards.
• Work out of town and on non-standard schedules as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
