About The Position

This role is for a Driller Assistant to join the Field Exploration team in Knoxville, Tennessee. The position involves supporting drilling operations in challenging outdoor environments, requiring physical strength, endurance, and a willingness to get dirty. The team values grit, reliability, and a strong work ethic, contributing to projects that require precision, toughness, and adaptability. The role demands extensive, continuous travel as a core part of the job, with assignments based at project sites rather than a fixed location. Hotel accommodations and per diem are provided. Work is performed outdoors in physically demanding, dirty, and unpredictable environments, with project schedules and locations changing based on operational needs.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to work in physically demanding conditions
  • Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
  • The knowledge and ability to perform routine vehicle and equipment maintenance
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Comfortable walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing (potentially up to 12 hours a day)
  • Comfortable routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
  • Comfortable working outside of normal business hours and traveling (typically out-of-town and/or overnight) as project needs arise
  • Must comply with Fleet Management, Substance Policy, and Reference Check requirements
  • Must have valid employment eligibility (I-9)

Responsibilities

  • Assisting drillers in the field with setup, operation, and breakdown of drilling equipment
  • Handling and transporting field samples and equipment (routinely lifting 40-50 lbs)
  • Navigating rough, uneven terrain in remote locations
  • Working in hot summers, cold winters, and everything in between
  • Traveling overnight for out-of-town assignments as needed
  • Occasionally working outside of standard business hours
