About The Position

The Drayage Dispatcher is a vital member of the Operations team within RMG. The Drayage Dispatcher is responsible for the facilitation and documentation of trucks entering and exiting the facility. The operations are fast paced and require individuals to effectively document and communicate when handling gate transactions. The Drayage Dispatcher must ensure that the expected containers and products are entering and leaving the yard to best assist and support the successful onward movement of customer cargoes.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years experience with data input and report generation.

  • Experience with Microsoft office products, terminal operating systems, SharePoint or google drive
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Highschool diploma preferred
  • 1 year experience in dispatching/agriculture/intermodal operations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee operational workflow by facilitating communication between OTR and Shag Drivers, resolving conflicts, and making strategic decisions to maintain efficiency and compliance.
  • Approve load requests and enter operational data into the terminal operating system (Octopi) and related reporting tools.
  • Verify incoming and outgoing train inventory, ensuring accuracy and optimizing yard utilization.
  • Operate the scale at the gate and record resulting weights in the system.
  • Take and test product samples, communicating results to operations when needed.
  • Establish routing and scheduling plans for OTR drivers that balance customer demands, cost efficiency, and regulatory compliance, with authority to adjust plans as conditions change.
  • Consistently communicate with leadership regarding customer changes and negotiate operational adjustments to align with company objectives.
  • Lead operational improvement initiatives by identifying process gaps and recommending policy changes to enhance safety, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Train and mentor team members, setting performance standards and ensuring adherence to operational best practices.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of yard and transload layouts, including decking and hoop building strategies.
  • Immediately report any damage, accidents, or injuries to a Superintendent or General Manager.
  • Support other departments as necessary, including Office, Transload, and Maintenance.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by leadership.
