Requirements

  • High school degree or GED required.
  • Perform shop arithmetic.
  • Read and follow written instructions.
  • Understanding of the basic line operation and line components associated with the process.
  • Tools and measuring devices applicable to the industry.
  • Communicate effectively to receive and pass on information and instruction.
  • Fulfill simple computer tasks.
  • Operation of the pay-off and take-up equipment.
  • ISO requirements pertaining to the lines.
  • Selection and installation of gears and dyes.
  • Internal/industry codes and abbreviations used to identify conductors and wires.
  • Principals of welding.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the wire & cable industry a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Complies with company safety rules at all times during working hours and ensures the safety of himself/herself and others at his/her operating station.
  • Responsible in keeping equipment and work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Works in a professional manner, punctual and highly dependable.
  • Mechanically set up the line, pay-off through take-up operation, including installation of appropriate tooling (dies) and all auxiliary line equipment needed to produce specified gauge sizes of single ended copper.
  • Consistently monitors the supply of raw material to ensure a continuous operation.
  • Performs required measurements with company approved measuring devices to ensure final process meets the required specifications (reference PC 034).
  • Verifies the measuring devices are calibrated.
  • Takes corrective action to ensure quality product.
  • Welds rod to maintain rod-to-rod operation of the D-1 Copper Draw line.
  • Where applicable, operates the take-up machine.
  • Generate product identification tags for finished product and maintains accurate record keeping of all pertinent information required by Hendrix, including work center line log.
  • Monitors lubricating levels to ensure smooth operation.
  • Participates in scheduled team meetings and contributes to continuous improvement.
  • Participates in maintaining ISO certification.
  • Follows production tracking report schedule.
  • Adheres to applicable System Level Procedures (SLP) and written instructions.
  • Loading and unloading of heavy wire spools.
  • Identification and tagging of finished product.
