About The Position

The Drama Club Advisor assists the choral director with stage direction, set design, and other technical aspects of the choral department musical. The advisor contributes a vision for the selected musical and supports its preparation and performance, including auditions, rehearsals, costumes, lighting, and set construction.

Requirements

• Knowledge of musical theatre and its direction.
• Ability to run an audition.
• Ability to create a rehearsal schedule.
• Ability to give direction to teenagers and understand their personas.
• Ability to be flexible with student schedules.
• Ability to communicate with the choral director and others.
• Ability to direct a vision for lighting.
• High school diploma, G.E.D. Certificate, or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a G.E.D. as required by Kentucky law.
• Two years of increasingly responsible secretarial and clerical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Attend the audition process and share input.
• Create a rehearsal schedule for the performance timeframe.
• Help create the stage design.
• Attend rehearsals involving dramatic direction.
• Design a costume scheme for performers.
• Help with final construction and decoration of the set.
• Provide stage direction and other technical support for the musical.
• Communicate with the choral director and others.
